Beautifully painted by master artist Yoshiharu Katoh, this series of 8 plates depicting the 'Poetic Visions of Japan'.
Produced by the Ketsazum-Kiln in Japan, dated 1988 and inspired the Haiku poetry, this stunning plate set have bright un-faded colours and all are in very good condition with no cracks, chips or crazing.
Plate 1. Plum Blossoms is of a geisha girl in blue patterned kimono holding a parasol and fan, and surrounded by pink blossoms.
Plate 2. A Butterfly is of a geisha girl in a green patterned kimono and a yellow butterfly on her finger. She is seated in the Spring Gardens of the Kyoto Kinkakuji Temple.
Plate 3. Snowy Heron is of a geisha girl in a red patterned kimono holding a fan with a background consisting of pagodas, trees, blue flowers and three snowy herons in flight.
Plate 4. Orphan Sparrow is of a geisha girl in a navy blue patterned kimono and sparrow on her hand. She is standing in a garden between two posts with a pagoda house behind her.
Plate 5. Cherry Flowers is of a geisha girl in a red and pink patterned kimono and a almost hidden cat in her arms. She is seated under a blossom tree and in front a Koto, a Japanese harp and pagoda.
Plate 6. Leaves is of a lovely geisha girl in a turquoise green patterned kimono and holding a yellow fan. She is standing in front of a Buddha inside a temple. Outside there is a Zen sand garden with Maple trees.
Plate 7. Harvest Moon is of a geisha girl in a dusky pink patterned kimono and she is playing a flute. She is surrounded by red and orange maple leaves and blue shubberies, behind her is a pagoda and a big yellow harvest moon.
Plate 8. Crystal spring is of a geisha girl in a navy blue patterned kimono and a blue and white parasol. She is standing next to a rocky lake filled with koi fish and mountains and blossom fill the background.
The last photo of the back of the plate is for Plate No. 3, this is an example of the back of the plate looks like on all of them.
