A delightful vintage pairing of a miniature creamer jug and bud vase, two charming pieces that complement one another beautifully through their contrasting styles, colours, and origins.
Believed to date from between the 1960s and 1980s, both pieces are unmarked, yet their distinctive forms and decoration strongly suggest attribution to two well-known pottery traditions. The creamer is thought to be by Fishley Holland of North Devon, while the bud vase is believed to be by Cannie Ridge Pottery of Australia.
The miniature Fishley Holland creamer likely dates from the 1960s and displays the earthy brown and pale green tones often associated with North Devon pottery. It also features the characteristic fish motif for which Fishley Holland became particularly well known.
The Cannie Ridge bud vase is thought to date from the 1980s and is decorated with delicate eucalyptus leaves in warm ochre and brown tones, reflecting the naturalistic style and colour palette associated with this Australian pottery studio.
Both pieces are in lovely vintage condition and make an attractive display set despite their differing origins. Their complementary colours and handcrafted charm allow them to sit beautifully together in a collection or decorative setting.
Ideal for a shabby chic interior, country cottage, farmhouse kitchen, or contemporary home, this charming duo would make a thoughtful wedding, birthday, or housewarming gift. Equally appealing as a special treat for a collector of studio pottery or vintage ceramics.
A lovely and unusual pairing that celebrates the beauty of handcrafted pottery from opposite sides of the world.
