Gorgeously Vintage, chintz shallow bowl with 2 handles and lid, covered in gold flowers and leaves by Empire Ware around the 1940-50s.
The bowl is slightly raised on a round foot and shallow dish with 2 gold handles; the lid is the same shallow specs as the dish and topped with a gold stud handle. Chintzy gold flowers and leaves cover the entire vessel with 2 decal disc of 'Grecian' sitting and standing ladies surrounded by trees, playing instruments. The inner is cream with tiny beige flecks. The back stamp is Empire England B 247 P
The dish and bowl is in good vintage condition with age related wear. The gold filigree on the dish and lid shows minimal fading the handle and stud handle also has minimal fading. The gold surrounding the discs on the lid has a fair amount of fading and the decal colours are bright. The are no cracks, one tiny chip on the bowl rim which not noticeable unless felt and no crazing. See photos
An ideal Valentine gift filled with heart shaped chocolates. A lovely display on a coffee table to contain sweets or nuts. This would sit nicely on a dressing table as a powder bowl.
