Very pretty 'The Caughley Mask-Head Jug' reproduced by Coalport in 1979. A fine bone china jug with pretty embossed design and delicate pink and blue sprigs of flowers and leaves. A face/mask is part of the spout, while gold leaf edging covers the lip and rim, sides of the handles and round the base. The handle is ornate with curls.
The date stamp is detailed and very clear. The jug is in excellent condition with no crack, chips or crazing and the gold leaf is intact. It is bigger than the standard jug of 12.5
Highly collectable, The Caughley Mask-Head jug originally produced about 1770. Coalport continued production of the jugs when they took over the factory in 1779 and this was reproduced for 200th anniversary in 1979.
It is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or crazing.
