A rare and highly collectible Daisy Block Boat by Sowerby Glass, featuring the registered pattern number 42947, first illustrated in the February 1886 Sowerby catalogue.
This beautiful pressed glass boat bears both the embossed registration number and the distinctive Sowerby Peacock mark, confirming its authenticity. Crafted in elegant glass with a delicate blush-pink tint, it showcases the quality and craftsmanship for which Sowerby Glass became renowned during the Victorian era.
Originally designed to sit within a matching stand, the boat survives today as a standalone piece, with the stand having been lost over time. Despite being approximately 140 years old, it remains in good antique condition. There are a couple of small nibbles to the bow, a minor chip on the interior stand rim, and some tiny flea bites along the base ridge, all consistent with age and use. Please refer to the photographs for a full assessment of condition.
A wonderful collector's piece, this elegant boat would make a beautiful display item, pot pourri holder, grape bowl, or decorative centrepiece. An increasingly scarce example of Victorian pressed glass that would enhance any antique glass collection.
