The Towers' Ruby Glass Posy Vase is an exquisite piece of vintage glassware that captures the elegance and craftsmanship of the mid-20th century. Originally designed by Matthew Turnbull & Co. of Sunderland, this vase is part of the Windsor range, pattern number 504, and is commonly referred to as the 'Towers' vase. This particular vase is crafted from ruby glass, notable for its rich, deep red colour that adds a touch of sophistication to any setting. It features a small, short frilled rim and a rounded foot, giving it a classic and timeless appeal. The vase's sides are adorned with vertical thin reeds, creating a segmented appearance with six sections. Each section is embellished with a small three-line pattern at the bottom, adding subtle detail and texture to the design. When Matthew Turnbull & Co. ceased operations in 1954, their glass moulds were acquired by George Davidson & Co., a company known for its quality glassware. Davidson continued the production of the Towers' vase, renaming it to pattern MT1, and offered it in both flint and ruby glass varieties. Production of this vase continued at least into the 1960s, making it a sought-after collectible for enthusiasts of vintage glassware. This specific Towers' Ruby Glass Posy Vase is estimated to have been produced in the 1960s. Despite its age, it remains in very good condition, free from cracks or chips, which is a testament to the durability and quality of its craftsmanship. While there is no maker's mark or sticker, the vase is a well-documented glass pattern, ensuring its authenticity and value. A few small bubbles are present in the glass, a common occurrence in hand-blown glass pieces that adds to its character and uniqueness. The Towers' Ruby Glass Posy Vase is a valuable addition for collectors of vintage glassware. Its historical significance, coupled with its elegant design, makes it a cherished piece. Whether displayed as a centrepiece or part of a larger collection, this vase exudes charm and reflects the artistic heritage of its makers. Vase measurement Height: 8.5 cm Width; 10 cm
